Twenty electric vehicle charging stations are installed at Dubai Autodrome by BMW AGMC

With the installation of 20 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the country's first fully integrated multipurpose motorsport and entertainment facility, BMW AGMC and Dubai Autodrome, a division of Union Properties, have made a significant contribution to the development of sustainable transportation infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates. For the BMW Group, AGMC is the sole importer in Dubai, Sharjah, and the Northern Emirates.

The charging stations are intended to support the adoption of sustainable practices both during and after the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference, which is being held in the United Arab Emirates. They also cater to the e-mobility fleet of BMW cars that have been deployed for use at the conference. After COP28 concludes, BMW AGMC customers will still be able to utilize the convenient and environmentally friendly charging stations. The 2.8 MWp solar power project at Dubai Autodrome powers all 20 of the EV charging stations.

Regarding the collaboration with Dubai Autodrome, Ayhan Olcer, Managing Director of Albatha Automotive Group, the parent company of AGMC, stated, "The 20 EV charging stations newly installed at Dubai Autodrome will help accelerate the transition to emission-free mobility in the UAE." This project, which is motivated by our vision for sustainability, demonstrates our continued dedication to offering environmentally friendly solutions for greener and cleaner transportation.

Being COP28's official VIP E-mobility provider, BMW Group is leading the way in promoting environmentally friendly transportation options. During the climate summit, the brand's cutting-edge electric models, the BMW iX, iX1, and i7, along with the BMW iX5 Hydrogen, will be made available exclusively for VIP guests and officials to use.

BMW's commitment to lowering CO2 emissions and its proactive involvement in climate events are in line with its commitment to achieving complete climate neutrality by 2050 and to adhering to the Paris Climate Agreement, which aims to keep global warming below the 1.5°C threshold.

An important addition to BMW AGMC's Destination Chargers project is the addition of new charging stations at Dubai Autodrome. This initiative, which was started in 2023 and is intended to create a vast network of EV chargers across the United Arab Emirates, has installed more than 100 chargers this year alone, improving the convenience for owners of BMW electric vehicles. In 2024, more installations of this kind are planned.

"Dubai Autodrome is proud to join hands with BMW AGMC in promoting sustainable mobility infrastructure in the UAE," stated Faisal Al Sahlawi, General Manager of Dubai Autodrome. In addition to helping countrywide electric car owners, the charging stations will establish Dubai Autodrome as a premier motorsport venue that supports sustainability in the automotive sector. It also gives us the chance to cater to a larger segment of car owners outside of our usual clientele.

With a target of releasing approximately 10 million all-electric vehicles worldwide by 2030, the BMW Group is pushing electrification as a component of its comprehensive strategy for sustainability throughout the whole value chain. In fact, in about 90% of its current market segments, BMW has at least one fully electric model on the road. The BMW Group is actively involved in developing charging infrastructure to advance electromobility, leading to projects like the installation of the Dubai Autodrome.
